Birthday cakes |
It was our birthday earlier this month (in case you didn't know we share the same birthday - 1st September). Here's what we got up to...
The evening before our birthday, friends at work put on a joint party for us and a friend, with a delicious dinner and a massive cake. Then, on our birthday, we had another cake each at lunchtime (tiramisu and a lemon cake... See photo - mmmm!), and then went out for a meal in town in the evening.... with another cake. And we were also given a homemade fruit cake from our neighbour. (notice a theme here?!)
The next two evenings we treated each other. First Mike took Helen out to a new restaurant at a secret location over looking the sea. Not to be outdone, the next evening Helen cooked dinner for Mike and made not one, but two of his favourite desserts... including another cake: delicious black forest cherry gateau - Mike's favourite. Somehow we managed 6 cakes in the end!!
Then, to top it all, Helen made Mike's favourite Australian dessert... WHITE CHRISTMAS!!! It's not exactly a cake, but was so tasty it made it into the Tozer Cake Collection. There's not much left in the photo cos Mike ate it all. Of course.
It was an awesome time and thanks for the greetings, emails, cards and other expressions of love that came our way. It is hard to be away from home on our birthdays, but this was certainly still a special week. We were sad not to have all our friends and family from with us...There certainly would have been enough cake for you all!
By the way, we do eat other things other than cake... honest! (chips, chocolate bars, biscuits, marshmallows, etc)
And in case you were feeling sorry for us having only one birthday between us, we make up for it by having two wedding anniversaries, because we had 2 weddings! |
