World Cup IV: Frankfurt Stadium
Wow! What an experience! The volume in the stadium was incredible, especially when England scored in the 2nd minute. And when victory was sealed at the final whistle. There must have been over 40,000 English fans. Funniest moment was when Robinson punted the ball out and hit the giant TV above the pitch, and the ball bounced back towards him! Most worrying moment was when Gerrard fell awkwardly clutching his back (he had back problems earlier this week - I feel his pain!) and waved his arm for the trainer, just like Rooney did when he broke his foot. Thankfully he was soon back on his feet. Joe Cole was on fire down the left hand side in the first half. He was on our side of the pitch so we had a great view. I'm sure we haven't seen the best of him yet in this World Cup. One player that really surprised me was Beckham. You don't see this at all on TV, but whenever England lost the ball, he was always the fastest running back to cover the gaps. And on the break he was always giving it all going forward. I was really impressed with how hard he worked, especially as he's better known for being a technical player with his free kicks, such as the one which brought England the only goal of the game. I'm so glad I got to see them play. One of those 'one in a lifetimes'. It was pretty amazing watching the best of England's players right in front of us: Beckham, Stevie G, Crouch, Owen, Rooney training, and the rest. The players celebrate victory
