Trailwalker finished!
We've done it! We crossed the finish line at 3.43am this morning and I was amazed to see a bunch of friends who were there to welcome us over the line! Thanks guys for coming out at such a crazy hour. It was awesome to see you all there - I was very surprised!!

We finished in 40 hours 43 minutes. Our main goal was just to complete the hike and we did that. We had thought we'd finish nearer to 30 hours, and we were doing that pace for the first 50km. Then, around half way we had a few knee injuries hit our team, so the second half took a bit longer. But the important thing is we finished all 100km!

I only slept for a total of about an hour on the trail, so after walking for 40 hours I was exhausted. After lots of hugs at the finish from our fan club :) and a brief medal presentation (mine is sitting next to me here :) I managed to stand up long enough for a shower and then collapsed in bed for 11 hours of sleep. That doesn't seem nearly long enough, especially with Liverpool playing Arsenal at midnight, so I'm off to have some more.

It was an incredible walk; very challenging, amazing scenery, almost every type of HK terrain, a huge number of walkers and lots of ups and downs. As you'd expect, it made a big impact on me, and the team, and so I'll write more when I'm a bit more rested.

Huge thanks to our welcoming fans, our support teams all the volunteers who helped (there are 2 for every trailwalker!) and all our sponsors. We couldn't have done it without you all! The final thanks goes to my Daytime of the Night team mates, Ben, Liana and Joe. Each of you did so well to finish such a huge walk. Well done! Thanks for letting me be a part of the team :)

p.s. And I did get to go to the U2 concert after all!

Thanks too to all the people who sent encouraging SMSs. I was touched to hear from you all! And there were so many that it filled my phone up (over 40 I think!!!) Sadly, my phone battery died a few hours before the end, but I got most of them during the walk.

Just wanted to add that another factor in making the walk surprisingly hard was that it was incredibly hot. One of the hottest November days ever in HK according to one Hong Kong blogger. It got up to 30 degrees on Friday and Saturday felt even hotter!
