Maclehose Trail hike - section 5 |
We hiked our 6th section of Hong Kong's longest hiking trail, the Maclehose Trail, on Monday. Our printer was having issues, so we didn't manage to print a map before we left. Usually the Maclehose is well sign-posted, so we didn't expect any problems without a map. But, just to make sure, I snapped this picture at the start of section 5 and used it as a map! Yet another example of the uselfulness of digital cameras.
Section 5 is the closest trail to Kowloon, so we took some great pictures of the lights of the city, below a setting sun. Click on the picture for more.

How on earth did you follow that on your digital camera screen? Very useful though. What are the war relics? Or is the trail itself a war relic??

Hi Laura,
The digital camera picture was actually a bit bigger than you can see here, which made following it easier!
The war relics included a trench, stone markers and a cave, inside which a dog was sleeping until we stomped up! You can read more here: http://parks.afcd.gov.hk/newparks/eng/hiking/wrtrail/wrtrail2.htm which answers fascinating questions such as "What is the function of Cave?"!
Here's the dog's home: http://parks.afcd.gov.hk/newparks/eng/hiking/wrtrail/image/23.jpg
