Welcome to speedcubing.com! |
I came across speedcubing this week, a sport I'd not heard of before. The basic idea is solving a Rubik's cube, or other similar puzzle, in as short a time as possible. The big news in Speedcubing this month is that Leyan Lo, from the US, set a new world record of 11.13 seconds for solving a standard 3x3 cube! That's a pretty amazing time, as you'll know if you've ever tried to solve one. But he's not alone, as there 384 other people in the Speedcubing World Rankings who can solve a cube in less than a minute.
If you're intrigued, you can even watch some of the master's strutting their stuff on video, some of the 'cubers' solving cubes with one hand, or even blindfolded!
And if you're now frantically searching your drawers for a Rubik's cube, have a go at this Rubik's cube online. |
