World Cup VII: Japan v Australia final score |
Australia have scored their first World Cup goal, and their second and third, to beat Japan. It was an incredible last ten minutes. A last gasp push from the Ozzies gave them a comfortable 3-1 victory over Japan.
It looked Japan were about to hold out for a win, with the Australians done for, 1-0 down with 6 minutes to go. Then Australia scrambled a goal through a bunch of defenders to equalise on 84 minutes. The goal lifted the team and they were suddenly on fire. They went ahead with a fantastic Cahill strike that went in off the goalpost on 89 minutes. A minute later the victory was sealed with a third goal. Next stop: Brazil! |
