| Our local Wellcome (yes, that's how they spell it) supermarket has announced a new offer: anyone who finds an out-of-date product in their store gets a free gift. A 500kg bag of rice. Sounds like a fun treasure hunt! I wonder if it includes staff...
That reminds me, I should give their online shopping a try. We don't live very far from the shops, but it sure isn't my most favourite task to lug 6 bags of shopping across a busy road with a blind corner. Having it driven to the doorstep is a very tempting prospect. My parents are well ahead of me on this one, as they've been doing online shopping for ages. Reminds me of a funny story...
A friend of my parents wanted to order his shopping online, but they could never deliver when he wanted to. So, he decided to book well in advance, by purchasing a few items and specifying the delivery date for about a week away. He intended to come back and add to his order before it arrived.
Somehow, he completely forgot about his order, and ended up buying all his shopping when he was in town at the weekend. He was rather confused when he was out later in the week to be phoned up by the supermarket delivery guy, who was waiting outside of his empty house with a loaf of bread and a pint of milk! I think that put him off online shopping for a while! |
