School |
One family we met lived in a tiny shack with 7 children. We were visiting them because one of their children had a medical condition that desperately needed surgery and Care had paid for her hospital fees; in fact, she was in hospital this weekend. While the Care staff member talked to the Father, we played around with the kids (It's amazing how much joy a digital camera can bring!). We asked the father if any of them go to school, and he said he can only afford to send two (two of the younger girls). We then asked how much books, school fees, transport and uniforms cost for the year and it worked out at about US$30 a year per child. |
