Lost |
We've lost a few things recently, including one of my bank cards and Helen's cello bow. They've all been very weird, unexplainable disappearances, not obvious thefts. It's almost like an Agatha Christie story. In an effort to recover them, I happened open this slightly bizarre (and very old school), but very helpful website:
http://www.professorsolomon.com/12principles.html
Basically the professor's twelve principles are:
- Don't Look for It
- It's Not Lost - You Are
- Remember the Three C's
- It's Where It's Supposed to Be
- Domestic Drift
- You're Looking Right at It
- The Camouflage Effect
- Think Back
- Look Once, Look Well
- The Eureka Zone
- Tail Thyself
- It Wasn't You
He has some great points, especially the 'eureka zone', which involves assuming the item may have been slightly displaced. Although none of his tips helped us find any of our items, at least we felt a bit more sure at the end that they really were lost. One of the items is being generously replaced by a friend, and one of the others the replacement fee was waived, so all's well in the end.
