Mid-Autumn Festival |
Tonight Hong Kong will be celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival, or the 'Lantern Festival', as it is sometimes called. This popular Chinese festival celebrates abundance and togetherness, according to wikipedia. Light is an important theme, with the event coinciding with tonight’s full moon (although its currently overcast!), and there will be many lanterns in parks, shopping centres, beaches and other public areas.
At some point this evening we'll probably head over to the Gold Coast beach, the world's largest man-made beach, and one of the recommended 'Moon-gazing locations'! I'm not sure what the proper greetings is, so... Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! |
